Re-born Anderson ready for the Ashes

RE-BORN Burnley pace ace James Anderson is ready to rip into the Aussies when the wickets are pitched on the Ashes tomorrow.

England’s old enemy will not recognise the 26-year-old as the same bowler who was flayed around various Australian grounds as he endured a miserable introduction to the most famous series of them all two years ago.

Anderson insists that the nightmare memories of his three Tests Down Under – when he took just five wickets including a first Test horror show when he claimed 1-141 from 29 overs – are long gone and now he is focused on making life miserable for Ricky Ponting and co.

He said: “It was certainly an Ashes baptism of fire but it’s been and gone now, and so much has happened since then it’s difficult to remember it all that clearly anyway.

“I was a completely different cricketer back then.

“I’d just come back from a bad injury and, on reflection, probably wasn’t quite ready to play at that level.”

Since those low days, Anderson has propelled himself to England’s number one bowler and his last 58 victims have come at just 28.
