ADAM Yates faces at least three weeks on the sidelines thanks to a gashed knee suffered during Saturday's FA Cup win over Grimsby.
The Morecambe full-back was hurt in the first-half to add to a critical injury and illness crisis at Christie Park.
"It's a bad one for the boy," says boss Sammy McIlroy.
"It is a deep cut and needed stitches and it is a big blow because he has been doing so well."
It is another blow for the Shrimps, who are without 10 first team squad members through injury and illness.
McIlroy couldn't even fill his quota of seven subs for Saturday's Cup tie and had to play Craig Stanley, who was not fully fit.
"Stan did well," says McIlroy. "The boy climbed off the treatment table and played despite problems with his hip and groin.
"He did so well and it shows the spirit.
"But I have never known anything like this injury list."
