BARROW dug in to deny Morecambe maximum points in the 3D Sports Northern Premier Cricket League on Saturday.

Bruce Martin’s 50 helped Morecambe to 169-7 at the Ernest Pass Memorial Ground.

And they seemed on course for a 15-point return as Barrow wickets fell in the cross Bay clash. However, the home side held on at 122-9.

Lancaster went down to a seven-wicket defeat to Kendal at Lune Road.

Conditions were difficult and the Bombers could only muster 140-9 from their 50 overs, a score that was never likely to trouble the high-flying visitors too much.

And Terry Hunte’s 40 helped them to 145-3 and an easy win.

Carnforth’s historic game at Darwen was abandoned at lunchtime due to foul weather on top of the East Lancashire hills.

But that decision robbed fans of seeing Carnforth pro Ryan Bailey continue his one-man assault on the record books and also Darwen amateur Gareth Cordingley aim to score the 18 runs he needed to reach 10,000 in the League for the Birch Hall club.
