Blackburn Rovers have contract offers on the table for Sam Gallagher and Tyrhys Dolan and will sit down with the players to thrash out their futures in the summer.

Both attackers have deals that expire in 2024 but Rovers have the security of options to extend their current terms by a further 12 months. The club have been very proactive with contract renewals since Gregg Broughton arrived and Rovers would like to tie them down to fresh terms.

The Lancashire Telegraph reported in November that talks with Dolan were on pause with the player keen to focus on rediscovering his best form. The 22-year-old has since been out with a knee injury before recently returning to the side.

Rovers would be due compensation for Dolan as he is under the age of 24, even if he did walk away from the club in the summer of 2025.

Gallagher is one of Rovers' top earners and was the subject of major interest from Ipswich Town. We understand their offers reached the £1.5million mark but Rovers were looking for £2-3m as they didn't want to sell in January.

Broughton has now revealed that new contract offers remain on the table for both players. They have neither been signed or rejected, with everyone focused on staying in the Championship before further talks to decide their long-term futures in the summer.

"We have an open dialogue with both players, there are contract offers on the table," Broughton told The Lancashire Telegraph.

"They haven't been signed or refused at this stage. We have the option there for both players.

"With Tyrhys, you have double protection because he is still under the age of 24. We have to get over three hurdles, staying in the Championship, knowing what the budget is and knowing exactly what John Eustace wants in terms of how it should be shaped.

"There was significant interest from Ipswich Town amongst others for Sam Gallagher in January.

"That's no surprise, their main centre-forward, George Hirst, was injured and using the same metrics we used to identify George for us last summer, we know the best alternative for them to sign on the market was Sam Gallagher.

"My recommendation to the board was very clear. To sign a replacement for Sam would have been a significant cost in January and not one I felt we would be able to invest in.

"You're able to do a lot more creative business in the summer. We have to come to a decision with Sam, not on behalf of him, to work out what his future looks like.

"We have an open dialogue with the players and his representatives over what that might be. There is an offer on the table for him to sign a brand new deal."
