VETERAN defender Colin Murdock admits he is delighted to be back in Lancashire after officially joining Accrington Stanley yesterday.
The 32-year-old became the Reds' first summer signing as manager John Coleman assembles his squad ahead of the new League Two campaign.
Murdock was released by Shrewsbury Town at the end of last season - but the commanding centre-back is more noted for his six seasons at Preston North End between 1997 and 2003.
Since leaving Deepdale, he has also sported the colours of Hibernian, Crewe and Rotherham.
"It's great to be back in Lancashire. It feels like I've come full circle," said Murdock.
"I'm at a stage where I want to try and enjoy the next two or three seasons of my career.
"So far, I've been very encouraged by the direction Accrington is going in and I can't wait to get started."
Murdock signed a one-year deal, and he will trigger a further one-year extension by completing a number of appearances this season.
