ALEX Hartley and Katie George have been included in the England Women's squad ahead of their one-day international series against New Zealand.

East Lancashire ace Hartley, 24, was a regular feature in England's triumphant World Cup campaign last year, although fellow slow left-armer Sophie Ecclestone has been preferred for this summer's assignments.

But both spinners have been named in a 15-strong squad ahead of three ODIs against the White Ferns, the first of which is on Saturday at Headingley, alongside teenage seamer George.

Coach Mark Robinson said: "I've been pleased with how we've played this summer, in both 50-over and IT20 cricket. We've got a bit of competition for places, which is healthy, and as such we've got a group of players pushing each other to improve all the time.

"It's good to have Alex Hartley back with the group and Katie George has had a promising start to her career at this level, and we look forward to taking on New Zealand."

Off-spinner Dani Hazell has been omitted but the squad is otherwise unchanged from the one that clinched a 2-1 ODI series victory over South Africa last month.

England squad: H Knight (captain), T Beaumont, K Brunt, S Ecclestone, G Elwiss, K George, J Gunn, A Hartley, A Jones, L Marsh, A Shrubsole, N Sciver, S Taylor (wkt), L Winfield, D Wyatt.
