WHALLEY will bid to maintain their flying start to the Ribblesdale League season when they entertain Section B leaders Cherry Tree on Sunday.

Richard Lamb’s side have a perfect record of three wins from three league games and are joint top of the table with defending champions Settle.

The early stages of the Ramsbottom Cup have meant the league programme has yet to really get going but Whalley will be hoping to stay among the early pacesetters with a fourth straight win.

But it will not be an easy task against a Cherry Tree side who have two wins from three and have started the season well.

Settle host a Ribblesdale Wanderers side who have also secured two victories from their opening three fixtures to sit second in Section B.

At the other end of the table, Earby and Euxton are the two sides without a win and both face tricky away games this weekend.

Earby make the journey to Read while Euxton travel to Padiham.

Elsewhere, Barnoldswick will hope to kickstart their Section A season when they welcome Brinscall while Salesbury are on the road at Baxenden in a meeting of two teams with just one win each so far.

The day’s other fixture sees Feniscowles make the trip to Oswaldtwistle Immanuel.

Before the league programme, there is a busy weekend of cup action with the Twenty20 taking place tonight.

In group one, Euxton started with a win last week and they are at home to holders Barnoldswick tonight while Earby entertain Brinscall.

Group two action kicks off tonight with Read entertaining Whalley, Padiham visiting Ribblesdale Wanderers and Settle entertaining Baxenden.

The Ramsbottom Cup resumes tomorrow as sides seek to close in on the knockout stages.

Euxton lead the way in group one and could take another step towards the last eight with a win away at Cherry Tree while Settle visit Brinscall.

It’s top versus bottom in group two as leaders Read travel to Feniscowles while Baxenden are on the road at Earby.

Padiham could go top of group three with a victory at Ribblesdale Wanderers with leaders Oswaldtwistle Immanuel without a game while Stacksteads face a trip to Whalley.
