OVER 20 entries have been received for this weekend's Accrington MSC Autosolo and PCA, which is to be held on the Blackburn with Darwen Services Area on Sunday.

A real mix of cars, from Porsche to Peugeots, are set to compete against each other in the Autosolo, which is a cross between a sprint and autotest. All cars must be taxed and tested and driven to the event.

Competition takes place over a series of runs through gates and are timed. Run in thirds, drivers take turns in competing, marshalling and resting.

Each section is run three times during the day and cumulative times decide the winner.

The event sees a number of youngsters taking part, including 15-year-old Faye Robinson and her brother John, 16, who will be driving their Peugeut207.

Edward Johnson, also 16, and Father Bert, are taking part in their first Autosolo, while Adam Dolby and Darren Conboy, both 19, are now regulars in Autosolo and will be pushing hard for victory.

No stranger to victory in the event is Steve Johnson, who is competing in a Nissan Micra with his daughter Heather.

Steve recently competed on the Bury Autoglass Torque BAC stage Rally at Swinderby Airfield, where there were nearly 100 competitors, with 12 competing in Steve's class.

"I was very happy after the opening stage. It was over eight miles long and to finish third fastest was a great start to the event," said Steve Maintaining his challenge, he posted some very competitive times during the day and kept himself in contention throughout.

He added: "I had a couple of little hiccups. I almost out-braked myself on one stage, but managed to rescue it, while on the next stage I did lose a few seconds when the car spun a full one-and-a-quarter times.

"On the very last run of the day the third place driver, Mark Livsey, almost nicked second place off me. His time was three seconds quicker than mine, but that still left me with a one second advantage, which secured the runner-up position behind Peter Jones."
