CLITHEROE manager Neil Reynolds is confident the club can make its mark in the revamped UniBond First Division next season following the arrival of six new faces.

The Shawbridge chief has been active on the transfer front, swooping to sign Rossendale United pair Russell Clarke and Adam Kozlowski, former Bury right-back John Gaynor from Hyde United, and centre-back Nigel Taylor from Kendal Town.

Also rejoining the club are goalkeeper Paul Collinge from Leek Town, and former captain and fans' favourite Paul Stansfield, who is back after a spell with Ossett Town.

However, last season's captain, Simon Garner, has quit the club and signed for Conference North side Stalybridge Celtic.

Pleased with his summer business, Reynolds said: "We are happy with the way the squad is shaping up and I'm not looking to sign anyone else before the season starts.

"We are delighted that Paul Stansfield and Paul Collinge have agreed to come back.

"We've also brought in Russell Clarke (a defender) and Adam Kozlowski (a midfielder) from Rossendale, and they are both keen to prove themselves here.

"We also wanted to bring in a right-back so we are delighted to get John Gaynor from Hyde United, and another defender, Nigel Taylor, has signed from Kendal."

On top of that, Reynolds is also hoping to have star striker Gary Jackson back for the start of pre-season following a lengthy lay-off with a cruciate knee injury.

And he has told Garner if things do not work out for him at Stalybridge then he will always be welcome back at Shawbridge.

"It's a blow to lose Simon because he was our club captain and left-back, but it's a great move for him and I'm sure he will do very well there," added Reynolds.

Off the pitch, the Blues have also been boosted by the news that Blackburn Rovers Ladies will again use Shawbridge as their home base next season.
