Blackburn Rovers' under 18 side scored a 2-1 derby win over Bolton at Leyland.
Gary Bowyer's side took the lead on 25 minutes courtesy of O'Connor.
But they were pegged back just after the break.
However, that sparked the home side into life and O'Connor turned provider to set up debut striker Juhvel Tsoumou to score the winning goal.
Bowyer said: "It was a pleasing performance from a very young team.
"It is good that we are providing them with the opportunity to play and several players have taken that opportunity."
