GLEN Chapple will continue as Captain of Lancashire County Cricket Club for a sixth season in 2014.

Having been appointed as captain in 2009, the pace-bowling all-rounder will lead the team during what will be his 23rd season at the Club.

He will be assisted by opening batsman Paul Horton who has been appointed vice-captain.

Chapple said: “2014 is going to be an exciting season for the Club as we return to Division One of the County Championship and compete in the reformatted one day competitions.

“I am delighted to continue as captain of this fantastic county and I am looking forward to having a great working partnership with Paul as Captain and vice-captain.”

Cricket director, Mike Watkinson, said: “Glen has done an excellent job as captain and we are delighted that he will continue in charge as we look forward to the exciting challenges that 2014 will bring. Paul will be the first official vice-captain for several seasons and will give valuable support to Glen.”

Head coach, Peter Moores added: “It's great news that Glen has committed to leading the Team again in 2014 and the addition of Paul as vice-captain will give him valuable support and create an opportunity for Paul to further develop his own leadership skills."
