THE first Whitworth Scarecrow Festival is taking place from September 5 to 11.
73 scarecrows, depicting characters including Michael Jackson, Amy Winehouse and Spongebob Squarepants, will be displayed across the town during the festival week.
The judging of the scarecrows will take place on Saturday and the winner announced at the Rushcart Festival on Sunday around 3pm.
Scarecrow Trail maps are now available from the offices of Whitworth Town Council, the Riverside, UBS Building Supplies and Whitworth Post Office.
The Whitworth Scarecrow Festival runs from Monday, September 5 to Sunday, September 11. The displays are free to view but please respect people’s property and privacy.
