THERE seem to be a lot of letters in your columns about the demise of Blackburn, and in particular the market.
I can remember going there in the mid-1960s when it first opened.
Everything was so modern – under one roof – and the stalls sold everything you needed.
There was even a separate fish market.
It was so modern that people from neighbouring towns went there.
So to see the place now saddens me.
The market cafes were also well patronised. They were cheap and friendly cafes and all gave their own personal service.
It obvious we will never get back to those days due to the fact that life and times have changed – and sadly, in my opinion, not for the better.
