TO finish off my holiday visiting my sister and her husband in Blackburn, my brother-in-law asked if I would like to watch a boxing evening at the local community centre.
I thoroughly enjoyed it. The young people around me were polite and friendly, the discipline and self-control instilled in them was a credit to themselves, their coach and their club.
Unfortunately I did not meet Yaqob Hussain who runs the boxing club, but I do congratulate him on doing a first-class job.
This gentleman keeps 50 young people off the streets twice a week.
He is well liked and respected by club members. I hope this club goes on from strength to strength and I sincerely hope that the people of Blackburn realise how lucky they are to have a man of this calibre in their midst, and will continue to support him.
