I WAS delighted to see that Geraldine Smith MP has come round to supporting ideas I put forward last November to make changes to allow four lanes of traffic under Carlisle Bridge and along Morecambe Road.
And, together with the Chamber of Commerce, she has gone even further and proposed that the bus lanes only operate during peak hours.
While we are at it, we could make a few more changes, such as creating a left-filter for traffic from Lancaster into Asda.
Then all we need is to get the Green party and the don't knows' in the Independents to back the plans and it would be unanimous.
I realise we would still have to go through the County Council, which is a bit like washing your feet with your socks on, but at least it would show that we want to solve the traffic problems.
Cllr Keith Sowden, Overton.
