Children’s chief visits Lancashire

CHILDREN’S Commissioner for England Maggie Atkinson has visited Lancashire for a conference.
She said her time in the county was ‘thought-provoking, helpful in my work and enjoyable’.
Dr Atkinson attended the conference, arranged by Lancashire County Council at Woodlands in Chorley, to share learning and practice about being a ‘corporate parent’ – the role that local authorities assume for children and young people who are in care.
It asked 300 young people in care the question: “What do you think of your placement?”
Dr Atkinson said: “As corporate parents you make decisions that seek to assure the life chances of children and young people in your communities.”
