A PROJECT to create a community network for lesbian, gay bi-sexual and transgender people across Lancashire has received a £450,000 boost.
Supporters of the Lancashire LGBT have been given the award, over three years, by the Big Lottery’s Researching Communities Fund.
The Isaac Hitchin Project will see a team of four workers train volunteers countywide to support their own gay and lesbian communities.
Debs Bradshaw, the centre’s head, said: “This project is a massive achievement which has been a long time in coming.

When do heterosexual people get funding for a community network? Do the gay community not realise that they are setting themselves apart by creating their own community. Surely integration is the way forward and cheaper..

I think the county should invest in seperate toilets, Mens, ladies, disabled and mincers and munchers. Just don't know what the symbol on the door should be. Carpet roll or man bag. Thoughts ???

my concern is that this substantial amount of money might be spent in some vacuous attempt to legitimise sexual narcisism....as it has been in reykjavik.
i would prefer a portion of the money to be used to campaign on behalf of lgbt's in those countries for whom to be "different" is to risk a death penalty.

as a lesbian i can say that on my visits to the area people are probably more tolerant than they were 10 years ago, even so (and worryingly) attitudes amongst the young and those in school are surprisingly hostile to lgbt. course this could be attributed to peer group pressure and the need to 'belong'.

We are inundated with gay things on most tv soaps and even in what would be good dramas etc if only they did not include the what seems now obligatory gay scene .
Why are there gay pride parades ? What have they got to be proud of any more than anyone else ?
I have seen a gay pride parade and it consisted of butch lesbians with more tattoos that a sailor and gay men in the tightest shorts they could fit in . This does nothing at all to endear them to the general public. In fact it makes people think even worse of them.
My answer to this is stop all funding to these groups .Stop the compulsory gay scenes on tv / films . Stop gay " pride " parades and preferential treatment in the workplace " there are now special policies for gays etc " and treat them like the rest of us in society .
We all know gay people are out there so stop shoving it at us non stop.

As you say, you know Gay people are out there, so why shouldn't they be included on tv? Gay people are part of life so they should be included in any tv programme representing real life, in the same way women, different ethnic groups, disabled people.. Or do you think they should all be banned too? Straight white men all the way eh?
Once again money being wasted on a minority . Why is it that they need to segregate themselves ??

What makes gay people need support groups more than any other ? Why should straight people be subjected to lack of freedom of speech just in case it upsets you ?
I do not mind necessary gay scenes on tv but it has been overwhelmed with it just look at the soaps nowadays . Do children really need inundating with gay scenes ?? Do we hetrosexuals need it ? The answer is a resounding no we do not .
As for straight white men . Yes i agree with that but if someone has an abnormality that makes them gay then fair enough.
I do not know you to dislike you but i am sure you would know all about tough **** dear !
