Fire rips through boat on Lancaster Canal at Carnforth

A BOAT on the Lancaster Canal at Carnforth was destroyed by fire last night (Thursday).

Fire crews were called to Chapel Lane at 5.55pm after receiving reports of a blaze on board a canal cruiser.

Three appliances - one from Carnforth, one from Bolton-le-Sands and another from Lancaster - used breathing apparatus and a single hose reel to extinguish the fire.

A Lancashire Fire and Rescue spokesman could not comment on how the fire started but said it had caused '100 per cent damage'.

The spokesman said nobody was injured in the incident.
