I never thought I'd be listening to music that at times resembles a mix of Fleetwood Mac and Maximo Park, but listen to The Needles' Devil At Your Door and you'll understand.
Synths, Beach Boys-style harmonies and American-style pop-rock together form a unique catalyst that is sure to drive The Needles to a grand destination.
It won't necessarily happen with this album, but it's clear that the musicianship and songwriting are there.
As well as the previously mentioned sound of Fleetwood Mac and a slightly pop version of Maximo Park, there's also a touch of Weezer and just about any major group of the 60's!
The Needles show just what an influential album Pet Sounds was; 40 years after release it's still spawning new acts today.
