A CONVENIENCE store and apartments could now replace aborted plans for a new hotel in Burnley.
Plans were passed four-and-a-half years ago to build a 12-room boutique hotel with a bar and restaurant underneath, on the site of the former Hob & Gill Working Mens’ Club in Burnham Gate.
But the scheme’s backers ran into financial difficulties and were only able to construct the ‘shell’ of the building.
Lancashire Mortgage Corporation has now assumed control of the building, at the junction with Keppel Place, and has unveiled fresh proposals.
