THE owners of Blackburn Rovers have made one young fan’s day — after ringing him to thank him for his support.

Nine-year-old Tyler Cole waited outside Ewood Park in the rain last week ahead of the Tottenham Hotspur match to get an autograph from Venky’s boss Anuradha Desai and her brothers.

And he now could be in with a chance of meeting his heroes after impressing the owners with his enthusiasm for his beloved Rovers.

After he was featured in the Lancashire Telegraph with his prized autograph, Venky’s representatives contacted the newsroom to ask for help in tracking him down.

The Telegraph put a piece up on the website and Tyler’s mum Nicola Shulman came forward.

Then on Tuesday night Tyler received a call from Mrs Desai’s brother Venkatesh Rao at his home in Oswaldtwistle.

Tyler, a season ticket holder in the Blackburn End, spoke to Mr Rao for over 30 minutes.

And the joint owner even promised to arrange for the fanatic to meet some of the players when he is next in the country.

His mother, Nicola Shulman, 30, a director of Blackburn Brakes, said: “We can’t quite believe it really. Tyler often waits for players outside the ground to try to get autographs and on this occasion he was really happy to get a signature from the new owners.

“They spoke about all sorts of things and Tyler told him that he had been going to matches since he was six and sits with 10 of his family.

“Mr Rao said that he wants to meet Tyler in person to thank him for his support and said he hopes lots more young people will also get behind the club.

“He said that when he comes over next time he will organise a surprise for him.”

Tyler, who lives with his mum in Blossom Avenue, Oswaldtwistle, goes to West End Primary School.

A Venky’s spokesman said Mr Rao had been impressed with Tyler’s love of the club.

He said: “He enjoyed speaking to Tyler and is looking forward to meeting him when he is next in the country.”
