SOME ‘good stalls’ have been lost to Blackburn market, the councillor in charge has admitted.
Labour’s Dave Harling said rent reductions had been introduced to try to persuade other traders to stay in the market ahead of its delayed move to the shopping centre in May.
The change has been controversial, with some traders on the three-day market saying they cannot afford the move to six-day trading.
In an email to a constituent, Coun Harling said: “I don't think there is any chance that we will be able to save the three-day market as we have known it – it is too late in the day to be able to make changes to the plans that are already in place.”
