A POSTIE underwent a makeover from TV stylist Gok Wan after he visited her at work.

Rachel Woods’ transformation saw her ditch her usual dowdy workwear for a glam outfit as part of the Channel 4 show Gok’s Clothes Roadshow.

The 37-year-old from Barnoldswick went on the show with colleagues Wendy Hilary, 41, Melanie Granger, 41, and Jennie Ward, 34, who all live in Skipton and deliver in the town.

Rachel said: “Wendy printed out the application forms for the show and we filled them in. It was really exciting when we were chosen.

“We were whisked off to Leeds and Harrogate and we were taken shopping and had our make-up and hair done.”

The show’s flamboyant presenter visited the women at the Skipton sorting office and met up with them several times to offer advice during their transformation.

Their new look was revealed at the Harrogate International Centre before they were asked to take part in a catwalk show.

“Gok told us we would be going out on the catwalk on the last day,” said Rachel.

“It was absolutely terrifying, but all our family and friends were there to support us.”

Rachel said taking part in the show had been a really positive experience for everyone.

“Meeting Gok was great,” she said. “He was really lovely. He brightened us up and made us feel like girls again.

“It has changed us all. We do feel a lot more confident now. We were all stuck in a rut and we were blending in a little bit because we wear the same uniform as the men.

“Wherever we go now people say how nice we look.

“They let us keep the clothes and I have got some fantastic new outfits. They changed my hair colour and I think I will keep up with it, as it looks a lot nicer.”
