TRADING standards chiefs have issued a warning over an email scam.
Messages claiming to be sent by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) have been received by some people in Lancashire.
The email asks people to provide personal details.
However, the DVLA has confirmed that it did not send the messages.
Lancashire trading standards chief Coun Albert Atkinson said: “What this email appears to be doing is ‘phishing’ for people’s personal details.
“Scams can have a devastating impact on people’s lives.
“They often deliberately target older people or people who are especially vulnerable.
“The fact that so many people are affected every year shows that we’re all potential victims and need to be on our guard.
“Be cautious and don’t fall for it.”
