PLANS for a giant weaving shuttle sculpture in Nelson town centre have been submitted to Pendle Borough Council.
The sculpture, which is designed to be a nod to Nelson’s cotton industry heritage, will be the centrepiece for the new £2.1million town centre improvements.
Under the scheme, first revealed in the Lancashire Telegraph in November 2010, the bronze structure will be installed at the junction of Manchester Road, Market Street and Leeds Road.
The cost is still to be finalised.
But it will be met through money set aside for the scheme to re-open the road through the town centre.
