A WOMAN was subjected to what police describe as an horrendous' racial attack as she shopped in Lancaster city centre on Saturday.
The 42-year-old Asian woman was in St Nicholas Arcade with her mother at 4.15pm when a man grabbed her by the hair, pushed her lead down and screamed Paki, Paki' at her.
Police have vowed to catch the attacker - one of a group who had been drinking around the city centre.
DS Sean Carthy says: "This was an horren-dous attack and we are studying CCTV images in an effort to catch the person responsible.
"We believe the men had been drinking in the Dalton Square area and entered the St Nicholas Arcade from that direction.
"I ld urge anyone who saw anything to call police."
The attacker is described as a short, stocky white man with a skinhead hair-cut, a loud local accent and missing several front teeth.
