Hutton Roof Country Fair success

The annual country fair and fell race took place at Hutton Roof. Weather conditions were not good, with winds and showers and a heavy downpour just as the senior race was ending, which played havoc with paper work.

A total of 210 senior fell runners left the field for the seven mile course over Hutton Roof Crag and Farleton Knott, but the strong winds and slippery conditions slowed some competitors.

The artefacts covered the history of the church, the third on this site over the last 125 years. This church has had many famous vicars: the Rev T.B. Hardy, VC, DSO, MC, the Rev Haggard, the Rev H.A.L. Rice and the Rev Spedding, who gave many gifts to the then new church. The display had been put together by the church committee.
