REGARDING the planned burial ground at Old Langho. When we applied to build a bungalow on our land in Northcote Road we were turned down several times. The reason Ribble Valley planners gave was we would create excessive traffic.

Northcote Road is very busy and dangerous and to suggest having a burial ground opposite Northcote Manor, also a new building and a car park on an already over-crowded country road like this is complete madness.

The land where the burial ground is proposed slopes to Bushburn Brook, a clear stream that runs through farmland of Old Langho and the surrounding area.

This stream provides good, clean drinking water for cattle, sheep, fowl and also wild birds and animals of all kinds. I was born and bred a farmer so I have a good knowledge of farmland, drains and waterways etc.

There would be a great danger of water from the burial site seeping into field drains and down to the stream especially in very wet weather. I lived and farmed at Old Langho for 40 years so I speak from practical experience.

This site is not suitable for what is proposed. The chaos it would cause to village life is unthinkable, also the traffic situation on this already over-crowded road would be impossible.

I no longer live in Northcote Road but I live locally and attend St Leonard's Church and support all local activities in the village.
