ON the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month, the people of Preston and South Ribble lowered their heads for a two minute silence for all our war dead.
It followed Sunday's remembrance services when civic dignitaries joined members of the public to pay tribute to the fallen of two world wars and other conflicts.
Old soldiers stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the young. They had little in common but shared the sentiment, 'Lest We Forget'.
In Preston a special service of remembrance was held on the Flag Market, led by vicar of Preston, the Reverend Canon Martyn Griffiths and attended by representatives from more than 50 ex-service organisations.
It was a scene reflected in Leyland and other towns and villages across the area for all our soldiers past.
