A WOMAN turned up at her boyfriend's house armed with a baseball bat when she believed he was seeing somebody else, Burnley Crown Court heard.

Yvonne Boulton, 43, then found the woman she thought was her love rival near a takeaway and demanded to know if she had been having sex with her "fella."

She clipped the pram of victim Katrina McGough's daughter with the bat while the child was inside, the court was told.

Boulton, of Lyndhurst Road, Burnley, admitted having an offensive weapon. The defendant was bailed until December 12 for a pre-sentence report by Recorder David Knifton, who warned her she may well go to jail even though she had no previous convictions.

The judge said the offence was serious, had taken place in public and involved threats. He told the defendant not to contact Miss McGough.

Peter Horgan, prosecuting, told the court the defendant, and a friend, had turned up at Patrick Healey's home with the bat.

He said she thought her partner was seeing another woman and that she was in the house. He said the bat was taken off the defendant, she looked around and then left.

She and her friend got into a car and as they went down the road they passed Miss McGough who had been to a takeaway with her daughter. Boulton asked Miss McGough if she was having sex with Mr Healey, then returned to the car and got the bat. She again demanded to know if Miss McGough was having an affair with her partner, the court was told.

Mr Horgan said the defendant then swung the bat and clipped the victim's daughter's pram.

She was asked to hand over the weapon but refused. She eventually gave it to her friend before both got in the car and left.

The prosecutor said the defendant told police she believed Miss McGough had been seeing her boyfriend. She claimed she had taken the baseball bat for protection from Mr Healey who had been violent towards her in the past.

Boulton alleged she had clipped the top of the pram with the bat to get Miss McGough's attention.
