A NELSON company has won a prestigious award in the export business.
Fort Vale Engineering Ltd, of Brunswick Street, scooped the medium-sized company award at a recent ceremony in Warrington.
The regional awards are a key feature of the National Languages for Export Campaign, which aims to raise awareness of the importance of understanding international culture and language when trading with overseas countries.
Fort Vale, which makes specialist valves, was given the award because of the company's strategy in embracing foreign cultures. Exports make up 80 per cent of their business.
A spokesman for the award organisers, UK Trade and Investment, said: "Fort Vale has a successful strategy embracing language, culture, websites and export documentation."
The firm will go forward for judging in the national awards in December.
