BURNLEY striker Ian Moore is up-front about the reasons behind Burnley's slide down Division One.

Moore feels the Clarets strikers need to rediscover the killer touch after a shortage of goals in recent weeks.

And the jet-heeled hitman reckons once the net starts bulging again, Stan Ternent's side can launch a spirited play-off push.

Moore, who was hoping to register his sixth goal of the campaign at Derby this afternoon, said: "It's been three games now since I scored, but it's not just me.

"All the lads up front seem to be due a goal and we really can't put our fingers on the reasons behind that.

"But it's not just here - look at Bolton who have only scored nine goals all season.

"Sometimes these things happen, but we realise it's up to us to stop the rot and get things going again."

Moore feels Burnley's momentum has also been affected by a lack of midweek games in recent weeks.

The Clarets had a week to mull over the 1-1 draw at home to Cardiff, and another seven days kicking their heels after Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Sheffield United.

Moore added: "Everyone knows we are struggling for numbers and at least one game a week gives us a rest and a chance to regroup.

"But obviously when you are not winning on a Saturday, you want that next game to come along quickly and get that out of your system.

"The downside is we are slipping down the league, but everyone in the dressing room knows we are underachieving at the moment.

"Looking at the rest of the teams in this division, there's no-one we should be frightened of.

"We have seen most of the teams in the division now and if we put our hands on our hearts we have to say we are underachieving."

Looming large on the horizon after today's trip to Pride Park is yet another blank week before Ronnie Moore brings his struggling Rotherham side over the Pennines to Turf Moor.

And Ian already has one eye on home comforts in the latest father v son confrontation.

He said: "It will be nice to have some home games at last because I feel like we've been on the road forever.

"An added incentive for me is that it's against my dad's side.

"They are not too far behind us in the table either, so it's another important game."
