BLACKBURN Hawks are hoping to be crowned "Kings of the Jungle" after this weekend's league action.

They take on Nottingham Lions at the Arena tomorrow (Sunday), and player-coach Bobby Haig says it will be a crunch game.

Nottingham sit one place and one point above the Hawks in the English National Ice Hockey League, and a win could see them leapfrog the Lions.

"It's a huge game for us," said Haig. "We need to win to keep on course for the play-offs and our preparation has been very good.

"The boys have been training hard and their attitude has been impressive."

Haig is happy with his side's form this season and feels the Hawks are well placed for a charge up the league.

"We've had a good season so far," said Haig. "We went to Billingham and beat them for the first time since I took charge.

"If you add the other good wins against Sunderland and Whitley Bay to that, I think it shows we are a decent side."

The wily Scot is confident the Hawks can come away with the spoils on Sunday.

"We were beaten 5-4 in Nottingham in September, but they were beaten 8-1 in their last match, so I'm hoping it's a good time to play them."

Haig has virtually a full squad to choose from, with first-choice netminder Colin Downie returning after missing games through work commitments. The only worry is the possible absence of Peter Tapp, who has had an operation.

"I've spoken to Peter and he's feeling better with every day that passes, so

he could make it for the game. But whoever plays, we're focused and raring

to go, and I hope we can give the fans something to cheer about on Sunday."

Doors open at the Arena at 5.15pm, with face-off at 6pm.
