POLICE investigating an early morning report of two men acting suspiciously arrived in time to see a pair of feet disappearing into the boot of a car, a court was told.

And when the officers opened the boot, they found Martin Haggan and a stereo taken from another vehicle. Haggan, 32, of Fishmoor Drive, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to Blackburn magistrates to theft of a £200 stereo system and interfering with a vehicle.

He was jailed for one month for each offence after the court was told that, as a result of the offences, he had been recalled on a prison licence and would be in custody until September.

Andrew Church-Taylor, defending, said the prison recall represented a significant punishment in itself.
