WORSTHORNE School Parents Group is getting ready to announce how it will spend the money raised at the school's annual summer fair.

The organisation is preparing to make an announcement on how village youngsters at the school will benefit from Saturday's event, which managed to raise £2,230.92.

Group members have also thanked all those who helped or attended the event - which also benefited from excellent weather.

PARISH councillors are planning a site visit to the allotments following a complaint by a resident.

Concern about the use of the allotments was raised by the resident at the last Parish Council meeting.

They said a gate had been widened, top soil removed and hardcore laid, and these actions appeared in contravention of the Tenancy Agreement.

WORSTHORNE Arts and Crafts Fair will run from July 31 to August 8. Help is needed from people who are willing to act as stewards during the event, and if you are able to help please contact Barbara on 427964.

As last year the duty slots will be 2pm to 4.30pm; 4.30pm to 6.30pm and 6.30pm to 8.30pm. Donations of houseplants are requested for the plant stall.

AT the recent Parish Council meeting the chairman welcomed Sarah Irvine, the area's new parish councillor, and Mike Tattersall, the new borough councillor for Worsthorne.

BETTER communication between parish and borough councils was on the agenda at the recent Parish Meeting when Parish Councillors indicated they were not keen on a proposal for area committees to be set up by the Borough Council. Parish councillors felt parish councils had more powers.
