A SERIES of free workshops is being held to boost the skills of those involved in voluntary and community groups in Pendle.

The council's community economic development officers have organised the events to give organisations a chance to share their experiences and learn new skills.

Workshops include first aid, mentoring skills, project management, mental health awareness and disability awareness.

The events are open to groups with staff or volunteers who live or work in the wards of Vivary Bridge, Waterside, Bradley, Whitefield or Brierfield.

They have been funded by Pendle Partnership and Pendle Council with European cash.

Organiser Andrea Goodall said: "These workshops have been very popular in the past and are a great opportunity for local people to learn some vital new skills and share their experiences.

"Running a workshop or voluntary group can be hard work and these workshops are meant to help organisations and volunteers to operate more effectively."

Courses must be booked in advance. For more information call Andrea on 01282 661981 or e-mail andrea.goodall@pendle.gov.uk
