CHORLEY Lynx slipped to their second successive away defeat in an error strewn encounter at Park Lane on Sunday.

Lynx never reached the heights they showed at Barrow the previous week and were made to pay for moments of ill discipline as they became more frustrated with the officials and the tactics of the Swinton outfit as the game wore on.

After the game coach Mark Lee said: "It was not a good performance. Swinton did a job on us by stopping the flow of the game but I also feel that they wanted the victory more than we did today.

"At half-time I thought that we could have gone on and won the game but was not happy with the way the game was handled and this cost us the chance of victory.

"The one bright spot was the performance of John Chamberlain on his debut and if the other 16 had shown as much enthusiasm we would have won the game."

Lynx made a poor start to the game and were behind in the third minute when ex-Lynx star Ian Hodson managed to ground the ball as he was being tackled, Paul Ashton adding the conversion.

Another ex-Lynx star, Mick Coates, then slipped a superb short pass for Ian Sinfield to touched down, Ashton again adding the conversion.

Lynx finally made their pressure tell in the 23rd minute when Brian Capewell ghosted through some woeful tacking to touch down under the posts and he added the conversion.

Capewell reduced Swinton's advantage to two points with two penalties to leave the score at 12-10 to Swinton at the break but Wayne English scored early in the second half, Ashton kicking the conversion before he slotted a penalty to entend the lead.

Chris Maye added another try and Ashton a conversion to leave Lynx 16 points adrift but they reduced the defecit immediately with a try from Ade Meade and had the last word with a try from Mick Redford cnverted by Capewell.
