A MOTORIST who collided with a trailer fled from the scene -- leaving his wife behind, Bury magistrates heard.
Roger Evans, aged 37, of Beechcroft, Sedgley Park, Prestwich, was in a collision with a parked trailer, which was attached to a Land Rover. The owner spoke to Evans who said he would have to go to the toilet.
He left his wife at the scene in Greengate Lane, Prestwich, and when, after two hours, he had not returned the owner called the police.
Evans was interviewed and said the vehicle was his wife's but she had been drinking. He said he had taken her keys and driven. He did not have a licence and was not covered by insurance.
Evans admitted driving without due care and without a licence and insurance and exiting from the scene of an accident without leaving details or reporting it to the police.
The bench fined Evans a total of £100 and ordered him to pay £300 compensation. Eight penalty points were imposed.
