TEN people were injured, two seriously, after two cars crashed on the A56 Bury New Road in Bury.
A Vauxhall Corsa collided with a Ford Escort Estate near the junction with Radcliffe New Road at 1.20pm on Saturday. Firefighters were called to help free some of the trapped motorists.
Two women in the Corsa, aged 18 and 21, each suffered a broken bone in their backs and are being treated in Fairfield Hospital.
The driver, a 21-year-old Bury man, and his other passengers, a seven-year-old boy from Northwich, Cheshire, and a girl aged 16 from Bury, were also taken to the hospital.
The Ford Escort driver, a 37-year-old woman, and her passengers, a 33-year-old man, a three-year-old girl and 11-year-old boy, all from Whitefield, and a 33-year-old woman from Prestwich, were taken to North Manchester General Hospital.
The 16-year-old girl from the Vauxhall and 11-year-old boy from the Ford Escort are still in hospital for observation. The remaining passengers suffered minor cuts, bruising and whiplash and have all been discharged.
