VILLAGERS in Edgworth and surrounding communities are to speak out on how links between their neighbourhoods and Darwen can be improved.

Residents in Darwen have already been asked for their ideas as part of a regeneration action plan.

And tomorrow from noon to 3pm, representatives from regeneration consultants BE Group will visit the Barlow Institute to gauge public opinion on what is needed to make them feel more involved.

An important part of Darwen's regeneration is to improve how it interacts with surrounding communities, and the quality of services provided to people living in them.

Consultancy team leader Peter Crompton said: "The surrounding area of Darwen is vital to the success of the regeneration activities of the town.

"The Healthcheck Action Plan draws together all the activities that are going on and provides a focus for taking forward ideas and actions.

"The consultation at the Barlow Institute will provide an ideal opportunity for local people to contribute solutions to problems in their communities."

Andy Kay, of Darwen Town Centre Partnership, said: "It's important that we work to strengthen links between Darwen and the surrounding countryside and the partnership welcomes local people getting involved and helping to achieve this."

Anyone unable to attend the event but who would like their views included can pick up a questionnaire and pre-paid envelope from the Barlow Institute, or telephone 01925 830007.
