A FAMILY'S homecoming turned from bad to worse, after they waited for almost two hours for a taxi and then found out they'd had a visit from burglars.
The 11-strong Hughes party from Tyldesley, had been on a family holiday to Mallorca, and had already paid for their taxi ride home from Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
The taxi didn't arrive though, so at 3.15 am, after waiting for almost two hours, the family paid £110 for two black cabs to take them all home.
Debbie Hughes, who is in her 30s, said: "It's just awful. When the taxi driver dropped us at Liverpool we paid £90 for a return journey including a £10 tip!"
When the family eventually got home, they found their mother's home had been burgled.
"There was glass everywhere and all the drawers had been pulled out. My mum's still discovering what's been stolen, and she's really upset," Debbie said.
The burglar drove away in a white car and a pillowcase was found containing stolen property.
