Oldham St Annes 24 Leigh Miners Rangers 31: LEIGH Miners Rangers clawed their way back from a 16-point deficit to snatch a last-gasp victory.

Centre Alan Reddicliffe claimed the last minute try and conversion that finallay ensured a Miners win.

Danny Tyrell gave the home side the lead with two penalty goals in the first quarter and were unlucky not to extend their advantage when Dave Sweeney knocked on over the Leigh line. But two minutes later he made no mistake when he was on hand to take the final pass from Andy Sands for a try that Tyrell improved.

Straight from the re-start Tyrell put Kevin Fitzpatrick in for a second converted try and the Saints had a 16-0 lead.

But the Miners refused to lie down and Tommy Goulden gave them some hope when he charged through for a try that Reddicliffe goaled. Goulden struck again by laying on a try for Simon Unsworth to close the gap at half time to 16-10.

A Reddicliffe penalty at the start of the second half narrowed the gap still further and when he made a break, hooker Jim Thompson went in for a converted try to put the Miners in front.

Tyrell levelled things with a penalty but Steve Tooze put the Miners back in front when he blasted over for their fourth try that Reddicliffe converted.

It was all-square again when Saints scored a converted try but Thompson returned from the sin bin to pot a field goal before Goulden sent Reddicliffe away for the winner.
