FORMER Leigh RL and Swinton prop Tau Liku was in devastating form as Leigh RU continued their good start to the season with a 66-7 hammering of Broughton Park.

Leigh missed an early penalty chance but opened the scoring when No 8 Sutton drove from a scrum, allowing Peacock to feed Bentham to sprint for the corner, well converted by Fisher.

The back row combination worked again when Peacock finished off another Sutton break after good work from the pack.

The Leigh pack were dominant at this stage and a penetrating break by Liku put wing Lester in for another converted try.

Leigh were hit by an injury to prop Young who was replaced by Prescott but continued to attack and a smart chip over the defence was finished off by Wilcock, Fisher again converting for a 24-0 lead.

Leigh began to over-elaborate and conceded possession, allowing Park to mount an attack which resulted in a converted try when their fly-half carved through the Leigh cover for a half-time score of 24-7.

Leigh opened the second half with some lively play and a strong forward drive allowed the backs to open up for Wilcock to score, and another superb handling movement saw Wilcock feed Jones who was held just short, but mobile lock Hampson was backing up to score.

The game became a rout as Leigh continually opened up the visitors defence with further tries from Sutton, Liku, Wilcock and Jones, with Fisher adding six conversions.
