GOLBORNE Parkside visited West Bank in the first round of the BARLA Lancashire Cup and gave a much improved display.

Golborne took the lead when full back Ryan Kelly linked to score a try converted by Andy Simms. Four minutes later they extended their lead to 10-0 when hooker Zac Patterson finished off another good passage of play to score a unconverted try.

The second half was only four minutes old when they extended their lead with a great try from stand off Kevin Coward goaled by Andy Simms and four minutes later the game was virtually over when young prop Greg Dale, playing only his second game, crashed over in the corner.

Winger Stephen Johnson, making his debut, raced over to score an unconverted try in the corner to make it 24-0.

Golborne introduced young stand off Stuart Arkwright for his first team debut and he immediately made his mark being actively involved in the plays that set up further tries for James Byrne and Kevin Coward.

Just before the end West bank scored a consolation try to make the final score 34-4 and take Golborne into the last 16 where they face a tough task having been drawn away at Premiership outfit Rylands.

For the second week running Golborne 'A' went down to a two points defeat after leading all through the game away at Latchford Albion by 22 -20.

Golborne powered into a 10-0 lead with tries from Jayhu JB Linevesery and Tommy Smith and one conversion from Neil Muir. They made the half time score 14-8 with a powerful try from centre Craig Parr. Linevesery scored his second try from a wonderful long range team effort goaled by Muir to make the score 20-8.

With 20 minutes remaining Golborne were delt a severe blow when they lost their influential centre Craig Parr with injury and had to play out the rest of the match with 10 men. Latchford slowly hit back and with one minute remaining finally took the lead 22 -20.

The young Golborne under 18's faced a tough opening fixture away to Blackbrook and a couple of defensive errors gave Blackbrook a 16-0 half time lead. In the second half the youngsters came of age as they matched their older and more experienced opponents.
