THE deputy Mayor and Mayoress, Cllrs Brian and Barbara Jarvis, have been doing their bit to help spruce up Wigan Road Labour Club.
The husband and wife team have spent over a year raising money to install play equipment and provide new fencing at the rear of the club on Edna Road, Leigh.
Mrs Jarvis said: "We manged to secure funding from both Brighter Borough and Living Space and I'm sure the project will benefit the club and the area."
The grand opening took place last Saturday with the council's Leisure and Culture Department provinging a bouncy castle for the occasion.
"It was a tremendous day and well worth all the hard work a lot of people have put in," added Mrs Jarvis. "We've had tremendous support from a lot of people and I'd like to thank them all."
