A WOMAN was indecently assaulted in her own home after she woke to find a man standing over her bed.

The 55-year-old woman was asleep at her home near the Rope and Anchor pub, Atherton, between 1am and 3.30am on Sunday morning when the attacker struck.

The man, who called himself Kevin, told the woman to sit at the end of her bed where he indecently assaulted her.

He then stole a quantity of cash, a mobile phone, a torch and a personal stereo in an orange case before leaving the house.

The man is described as 5ft 7in tall, of muscular build and aged in his twenties. He spoke with a local accent.

The attack took place on Sunday August 8.

Det Con Elaine Dickinson of Leigh CD said: "The victim has been extremely traumatised as a result of this terrifying experience which has left her in a constant state of fear."
