CELEBRITIES including Ricky Hatton and Natasha Hamilton have thrown their weight behind a campaign to highlight negative practices within the tobacco industry.
The former world champion boxer and ex-Atomic Kitten star want to stop companies marketing cigarettes to young people as part of Smoke Free North West’s Smoke & Mirrors campaign.
Smoke Free North West hopes to expose issues including deforestation, the use of child labour and the glamorous portrayal of smoking in film and TV.
It is asking 14 to 18-year-olds to put together a 20 to 100 word description of how they might be able to highlight the truths behind the smoking industry in a short film.
The three winning entries will be produced as a 90-second online viral for Youtube and at least one will be turned into a film and screened in cinemas.
On the judging panel are former Hollyoaks actors Matt Littler and Darren Jeffries, who will also work with the winners to produce and direct the winning films.
The closing date for entries is Friday.
