Fine for South Lakeland pub threat man

A SOUTH Lakeland man has been ordered to pay £235 after threatening to assault someone in a pub.

Paul Booth, 27, of Lingarth, in Lindale, admitted threatening unlawful violence against Simon Fife in the Guide over Sands pub, in Allithwaite, at South Lakeland Magistrates court today.

The court heard that Booth, a surveyor for Network Rail, was angry with Mr Fife because of an argument involving a friend of his.

Lisa O’Loughlin, prosecuting, said: “Mr Fife was sat at the bar talking to a friend and after a short time he noticed Mr Booth coming in as they used to be friends. Mr Booth went over and said that he was going to sort him out.”

Nicholas Renshaw, mitigating, said the incident, on April 28, was over an alleged assault by Mr Fife.

“Mr Booth felt agrieved that his friend had been picked on by Mr Fife,” he said. “It was out of character and it was an act out of loyalty for a friend.”

Magistrates ordered Booth to pay £160 fine, £60 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
