THE chips are down for a landmark city office building – but its future could be decided by the spin of a wheel with roulette and cards on the table.
Hest Bank-based developer Andrew Brakewell has applied for consent to turn Lancaster’s Riverside House into a casino.
The eye-catching building close to the Greyhound Bridge has been empty since the end of June when Legend moved out.
Now Mr Brakewell, of Brakewell Properties, has applied to turn the ground and first floors of the building into a casino while retaining some office space.
He plans to create around 30 jobs if Lancaster City Council planning chiefs give the green light to the first casino in the district.
The plan is likely to go before plann councillors in November.
