A PILOT project offering summer holiday fun for youngsters has been unveiled in Haslingden.

Supporters of the Haslingden Community Link initiative say it is one of the few such schemes to cater for 11 and 12 -year-olds.

In partnership with the Rossendale Leisure Trust, the Bury Road centre's course has been extended to cover Year 7 children, and runs from 7.30am to 6pm.

Football, badminton and swimming will be in the mix alongside cheerleading classes, archery, kayaking and wall climbing.

And trips out will see youngsters visiting the Fudge Factory in Bacup, The Halo in Haslingden and Cronkshawfold Farm.

Parents who are in receipt of working family tax credit can claim back part of the costs as the centre is a registered childcare provider.

Sporting activities will be split between Fearns Community Sports College and Haslingden Primary School.

The cost is £30 a day. To book, call Julie Jackson on 01706 224848.
